Sheetrev vs Baremetrics

Two ways to read your Stripe metrics. Baremetrics gives you a polished hosted dashboard from $129/mo. Sheetrev drops the same numbers into the Google Sheet you already use, for €19/mo. Honest side-by-side from someone who built one of them.

Pick Baremetrics if you want a beautifully designed hosted dashboard, your team already lives in it, and your budget is comfortable with $129-$1000+/mo. Pick Sheetrev if you already model in Google Sheets, you want every number editable as a cell, and €19/mo beats yet another dashboard subscription.

Where Baremetrics wins

Baremetrics has been around since 2013 and has more dashboard polish than any other Stripe analytics tool. Their forecasting and segmentation models are mature. They support multiple payment gateways out of the box (Recurly, Braintree, Chargebee), which matters if you are not Stripe-only. The customer success integrations (Slack, Salesforce alerts) are deeper than what a spreadsheet add-on can do.

If your team already has Baremetrics-shaped workflows ("Tim, can you pull last quarter's expansion MRR from BM?"), the switching cost is real. They are also publicly transparent about their own MRR, which earns them deserved goodwill.

Where Sheetrev wins

Pricing is the most obvious gap: €19/mo Starter and €49/mo Pro is roughly 1/3 to 1/10 of Baremetrics depending on your MRR tier. But the deeper difference is the data model.

Sheetrev does not own your data. The sync runs as Google Apps Script inside your own Google account using a read-only Stripe restricted key. Your numbers land as real cells in a real Google Sheet. That means:

The Stripe restricted key is your own. It lives in your Google user properties, never on our servers. We do not store your Stripe objects.

Pricing Side by Side

MRR TierSheetrevBaremetrics
$0 to $10K MRR€19/mo (Starter) or €49/mo (Pro)$129/mo
$10K to $50K MRR€49/mo (Pro)$229/mo
$50K to $200K MRR€49/mo (Pro)$379+/mo
$200K+ MRR€49/mo (Pro)$719+/mo (custom)

Sheetrev is flat-rate per workspace. Baremetrics scales with your MRR, which makes them more expensive precisely when you have less margin to spare on tooling.

Choose Sheetrev if…

You should pick Sheetrev when

  • You already live in Google Sheets for finance, forecasting, or board prep
  • You want to write your own formulas on top of the data
  • You are paying for Baremetrics and rarely log into it
  • You are bootstrapped or sub-$200K MRR and the pricing math matters
  • You care about data sovereignty (your Stripe data, your Google account)
  • Stripe is your only payment processor

Stick with Baremetrics when

  • You have a finance team that wants forecasting and segmentation built-in
  • You use Recurly, Braintree, or Chargebee alongside Stripe
  • Your customer success workflow depends on their Slack and CRM hooks
  • Your team already has Baremetrics-shaped reporting habits
  • $129+/mo is a rounding error for your business

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I run both Sheetrev and Baremetrics in parallel?

Yes. They are read-only on Stripe so they do not conflict. Many founders try Sheetrev for 14 days while they still have Baremetrics to compare numbers. The MRR numbers should match within rounding error.

Is Sheetrev's MRR formula the same as Baremetrics?

Sheetrev uses standard MRR: active and trialing subscriptions, normalised to a monthly amount (yearly subs divided by 12, weekly subs multiplied by 52/12). The formula lives in plain sight inside the Sheet, so you can audit it yourself. Baremetrics uses the same approach but adds proprietary categorisation for upgrades, downgrades, and reactivations.

What happens to my data if I cancel Sheetrev?

It stays in your Google Sheet. You lose the daily sync, but the historical numbers, dashboards, and any formulas you wrote on top are yours forever. Cancelling Baremetrics ends your access to their dashboard entirely.

Does Sheetrev have an API?

No. The "API" is your Google Sheet. You can already script it with Apps Script, query it with Google Sheets API from any app, or export it.

Try Sheetrev for 14 days. Decide for yourself.

Free 14-day trial on both plans. No credit card. Cancel in one click at sheetrev.com/billing. Your data stays in your Google account either way.
